Why no online booking.
There is no Book Now button on this site. Lino Cambi is not listed on Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, or any other online travel agency. Every stay begins with a short conversation, by email or phone. This page is an honest answer to why.
The conversation matters first.
Lino Cambi is small. Six suites and two yurts, sixteen guests at full house. The rhythm of the place is shaped around silence, breath, the long table, the cliff. It works because every guest is here for something close to the same reason, even if each of them puts it in different words.
A button on a website cannot tell who someone is. A short exchange of two or three messages can. We would rather take the time to know who is arriving than fill the rooms faster.
Why we are not on the OTAs.
Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, and the other online travel agencies work brilliantly for some kinds of hospitality. They are not built for ours. Their model rewards volume, last-minute discounting, anonymous one-night stays, and the kind of guest who is choosing between fifty similar listings on price. None of that is what Lino Cambi is for.
The OTAs also take fifteen to twenty per cent of every booking as commission. That commission would have to come from somewhere. It would come from the experience, sooner or later. Skipping the middle keeps the rate honest and the stay full of the things we want to keep in it.
What inquiry-only looks like in practice.
You write to us, either through the inquiry form on the founding-guests page or directly to [email protected]. You tell us your approximate dates and a few words about who you are. There is no required form length. People write a single line, people write a page. Both are fine.
Within forty-eight hours, you hear from one of us, Yossi or Agapitos. A short reply, maybe a brief call if it feels right on both sides. We hold dates. We name the rate. You decide.
That is the whole process. It is slower than clicking a button. It is also the part of the stay that begins before you arrive.
What this means for the guest.
You get the rate we set, between us, in conversation. It will not be the lowest rate on the internet because there is no internet rate. It will be the rate that fits your stay.
You get the assurance that everyone arriving on the same dates as you went through the same conversation. The long table is held by the fact that everyone at it came to be at it, and not for some other reason.
You also get one practical inconvenience: you cannot book a last-minute stay at 2 a.m. on impulse. We accept this trade. We think you might too.
Write to us.
A few lines about you and approximate dates. We reply in person, within forty-eight hours.
